It was Sarawak that had a better first-half, with the home side presumably shocked at Sarawak’s ability to dictate play and match Kelantan's skill and pace.
The first-half saw Sarawak making huge advances towards Kelantan’s goal as Yosri Derma Raj was allowed to take a promising shot on goal in the 18th minute. Moments later, Muratovic dribbled past his marker before unleashing an accurate pass to the oncoming Azizan Baba who made no mistakes by tapping in Sarawak’s first goal of the night.
The unexpected lead imbued more faith in Sarawak as Zamri Morshidi came close to doubling the score, with Kelantan goalkeeper Sharizan orchestrating a brilliant save. The attacking Sarawak allowed Kelantan to snoop in a counter attack which gave the home side a corner in the 33rd minute. Peter Butler’s men did not waste the opportunity as a high corner was headed nicely by Putra Indra Mahyuddin to level the score at 1-1.
The second-half saw Kelantan showing more urgency to win the game. However, Sarawak’s neat passing, coupled with Kelantan’s poor strike force kept the score level. Ashri Chuchu came close to putting his side in front again when he received a beautiful pass from Zamri Morshidi, but his shot on goal was blocked by the Kelantan defenders.
Minutes later, Sarawak had their best chance to change the score after Zamri Morshidi made a cheeky through pass to Muratovic, who was one-on-one with Sharizan. The Croatian crushed many Sarawakian hearts as he ballooned his shot.
With the match heading into extra-time, Norfarhan Mohammad made the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium erupt with joy after Sarawak defenders failed to clear a ball in the box cleanly. This gave him room to pocket the winning goal, putting Peter Butler’s men through to the next round of the Malaysian FA Cup.
